Cross-Border Intergenerational Conference for young people with an interest in digital media and professional from academia, youthwork and media industry. The concept for an all Ireland ‘Youth, Media, Democracy’ Intergenerational Conference emerged from a trip to the 5th World Summit on Children and Media in Johannesburg, South Africa in 2007. ‘Youth, Media, Democracy’ was hosted in DIT Aungier St, Dublin. The programme two day included presentations, panel discussions, breakout sessions, screenings and workshops. Seminal guest contributors included Milton Chen, David Buckingham and youth members of Dáil na nÓg. Youth participants came from xxxx
In my role as youth Coordinator, I collaborated with youth from The SWICN Computer Clubhouse on the design of the logo, recruited experienced workshop facilitators and coordinated all elements of youth participation including liaison with youth groups, facilitation of introductory workshops, curation of showcase of work by young people, programming of workshops/intergenerational discussions/break-out sessions, presentations by young people, report writing and evaluation.
