This artwork was independently commissioned by Beaumont Hospital School to provide a permanent showcase for puppets created by participants of the Puppet Portal Project. A child-friendly, manual crank incorporated in the brightly coloured facade operated an internal mechanism to generate movement and sound from the puppets inside. The installation, created by the artist in collaboration with John Dunn, aimed to stimulate creative communication and mobility for children staying in and visiting the ward.

The Puppet Stage was installed and officially launched in June 2010 by Beaumont Hospital School Principal Avril Carey.
